Ben Reed
From his earliest years, Dr. Reed’s life has been closely tied up with horses. Originally from BC, Dr. Reed grew up riding retired standardbred racehorses all over the backwoods and logging roads of Vancouver Island and the Cariboo country of BC.
Prior to becoming a veterinarian, Dr. Reed had a brief career as a junior high and high school teacher before moving on to become the manager of a herd of 80 horses at YMCA Camp Chief Hector in the foothills of the Rockies. During this time, he logged several hundred miles riding the trails of Kananaskis Country and the Yaha Tinda. His equine resume also includes a short period working as a groom at the Standardbred racetracks in BC, driving teams of heavy horses at Heritage Park in Calgary, and riding dressage horses to help keep them fit and schooled for their owner.
